Meet Leo, our virtual engagement officer

The Boston Public Library Fund is piloting an exciting new initiative powered by artificial intelligence: Leo, our virtual engagement officer. The first of its kind in the public library world, Leo will help accelerate the Fund’s mission to expand access, equity, and innovation at the Central Library in Copley Square and at neighborhood branches across the city. This bold step reflects the BPL’s long tradition of pioneering how knowledge and technology can serve the public good.

By engaging with Leo, you’re helping shape a new chapter in how philanthropy and technology come together for community impact. Your participation is guiding us toward more inclusive and meaningful ways to share the Library’s story. Together, we’re demonstrating how institutions can lead with purpose — harnessing technology not for profit, but for people.

"Artificial intelligence offers exciting new possibilities for deepening human connection and increasing awareness of the Boston Public Library Fund’s mission. Through the creation of Leo, our new Virtual Engagement Officer, we’re using technology to invite more people into the Library’s story of learning, access, and community impact. Leo will help supporters discover meaningful ways to engage—whether by learning about upcoming events, exploring opportunities to give, or connecting with fellow champions of the Library."
